Exactly the same happened to me, was a rear caliper sticking , diagnosed by pulling over and just feeling which wheel was the hottest, refurbed using a kit from Frentech [url]https://www.frentech-uk.co.uk/ [/url] which included all seals and new pistons, not a difficult job, one tip put the piston seal in the caliper , then fit the dust seal (as you can not get the dust seal in once the piston is in place ) then push the piston in after first stretching the dust seal over the piston , its a bit of a fiddle but patience helps and taking the caliper off and doing on a bench , normally there is a bit of crud at the start of the piston bore which needs to be cleaned off, as the seal for the piston is between the square edge seal grove and the piston body this is not an issue and can be achieved with a bit of wet and dry, obviously clean everything in there with a quality brake cleaner before assembly.

The whole thing cost me around £40

Perfect. I will check this.

Funnily enough the wheels are refurbed and one has a lot of fine cracking all over it. I wonder if the wheel is getting really hot.

Similar experience with a sticky rear caliper here too .. however a new caliper was the same price as the refurb kit mentioned above 4.4 AdBlu Tractor

If it feels like a puncture but has no feedback in the steering it's a caliper sticking. I've replaced 3 so far Rolling with laughter Land Rover Addict

This Kit did both calipers and to be honest i prefer to recon myself keeping as much as the original equipment as possible , but i agree its far easier sticking on a recon caliper

Well it definitely has a OS rear caliper sticking. Lots more brake dust on the wheel and much hotter. No need to touch it. You can smell and feel the heat coming from it. I have my job for the werkend. As they have had new seals and slides I guess it must be a piston issue so will probably replace the caliper and then rebuild it for next time. 2011 4.4tdv8 Vogue

I needed one quick so bought from eurocarparts. With brake cleaner and a roll of blue tissue they came to £126. That included a £30 exchange charge. I am going to refurb mine so won't be sending back.

It was advertised as pagid but actually a refurb TRW caliper. Came with slider grease and replacement slide rubbers too. Sorted.

Now need to refurb wheel as it got so hot the coating is cracked all over. 2011 4.4tdv8 Vogue

@gazcw: did you replace the rotor as well or just the calliper? 1995 4.6 v8, green/tan (long gone)
