What tyres

As above question what are the sizes for tyres if you want to put a less aggressive quieter road tyre on for summer use and any suggestions on which one ?

Cheers Far to many gone...

You could go for stock Pirelli Scorpions or an excellent budget option is the Hankook Ventus ST RH06.

If 19" wheels I suggest 255/55 R19 - stock size is always best.

at £124.13 each (Blackcircles.com)

OK the Toyos are very quiet and grippy as are the Hankook Ventus:

Toyo Proxes Street Terrain

The Toyo Proxes S/T provides both high performance and increased load indexes for sport utility vehicles.

This attractive tyre with its aggressive V-shaped tread will turn heads while offering excellent handling in wet and dry conditions and safety in light snow.

The Toyo Proxes S/T has a smooth, quiet ride, but tread life is below average.

Hankook Ventus ST RH06

The Hankook Ventus ST RH06 is specifically designed for the high performance, luxury 4x4 markets. With its computer designed footprint the Ventus ST RH06 ensures maximum contact with outstanding performance and road handling in all weather conditions. Along with its outstanding performance the Ventus ST RH06 offers minimal tread wear for a quiet, comfortable drive.

I would suggest keeping to the stock sizes to retain exact rolling radius. Thumbs Up

I just changes out of my last set of Pireli Scorpion Zero's as they has 3mm of tread left and I just realised I only got 7000 miles out of them.
And before you ask I don't drive like my trousers are on fire I average 26 mpg and I drive in a VERY hilly area.
So are the Pireli's ultra soft because if they are I didn't feel them to be so or is it just down to our "special road surface" we have to suffer up here. ?
What sort of mileage do others get from their Pireli's / other Tyres ? 2008 MY Supercharged

Michelin Diamaris were the best I've had. Currently got Pirellis but the're not much noisier and certainly not worth changing unless your old ones are worn out.

I run Vredestein's in the winter and they are noiser but not too much.

All standard size 20 255 50

I also have a set of Toyos in 22 285 35 on Overfinch wheels and they do seem quieter but it's a different car so can't make a direct comparisson

I just got some pirelli scorpion zeros. I'll be raging in they only give me 7000 miles. I'll be looking for twice that at least. FFRR TD6 HSE

Mine is on Pirelli Scorpions. Been on now for 20,000 miles, still some life in them yet and I don't find them noisy at all. Had worse.

Stick with stock sizes, otherwise it invalidates your insurance. See this thread for info on that one.

Cheaper tyres = less life/mileage basically.

If you want longevity and peace of mind stick with Continental, Pirelli, Goodyear or Michellin.

If you want cheap go for Hankook, Toyo etc. Discovery 4 HSE

I used to run kumhos on my old A4 and found them to be excellent and cheaper than the likes of pirelli etc. Not sure what their 4x4 tyres are like. FFRR TD6 HSE
