For your 2012 4.4 tdV8 you definitely need a 019 AGM battery.

Thank you both! This is exactly the feedback I was hoping for!

I have a slightly different take to most, quite happy for people to disagree with me.

Is there a way to know for sure if you need AGM or not?

Having done a bit more searching and reading on the forum, I think I'm happy to go with AGM. My car will mostly be doing shorter drives and fairly infrequently.

A JLR AGM battery was fitted to mine when the old one failed! I wouldn't fit anything else to my car...

All the very early 4.4tdv8’s were fitted with standard batteries, but by May 2011 they were recalled and all batteries were replaced free of charge to AGM type. From that date AGM were fitted at the factory.

Agreed, hence why I'm set on AGM. My last post was more along the lines of which AGM by brand as there seems to be a wide price range. And in my very simple understanding, 900CCA would be better than 850CCA, all else being equal...so the cheaper 'Advanced AGM' would be the one to go for surely?

Thanks for all the replies - I took the plunge and opted for the own-brand AGM from Advanced Battery Supplies after speaking to them on the phone. It comes with the same 5yr warranty as the Varta and would not need to be sent back to claim so in terms of risk, felt it was equal to the Varta.

What one did you go for? 019 or 020? 09 RR Westminster 3.6TDV8 - Stornoway Grey / Black interior - now gone (sad face)

019. Didn't want to risk mail ordering 020 and it not fitting.
