Restricted Performance on cold starts MY15 SDV8

Morning All,

First Post, 3 days into FFRR ownership (this forum was a great help when choosing) and I have come across an issue.

When starting after a cold night the car throws up the restricted power error and limits revs to 2000rpm. If I then drive the car in this mode until the engine gets upto temp, a restart clears the error and the car drives faultlessly.

The only continuous factor I can see is a long stand in cold weather. The car is going to Land Rover this coming Thursday so hopefully it will be sorted and I shall make sure I update this post with the solution incase it happens to any others.

In the meantime, has anyone else experienced and solved this issue?

Again, great forum and thanks for any input!

Clutching at straws as never had a cold start prob but it sounds like fuel issue. Poss filter or fuel starvation? Check hi pressure fuel lines fitting ok.

Thanks for the input Dolphinboy. Car was dropped off with Stratstone thismoring so hopefully I will have an answer and update today. I have bought a OBD2 reader as I feel I might need it in the future Laughing

Stratstone tech says exhaust temperature censor has gone and needs replaced. No part in until tomorrow of course but hopefully a fix!

Just to repeat if anyone is in a similar position with theirs.

Cold starts, particularly after cold weather, would bring up restricted performance and not allow revs over 2k.

5 minutes driving in that mode, brining engine temperature up, stopping and allowing car to turnoff completely cleared the fault and normal driving remsued. I didn't experience any 'restricted performance' warnings or issues while driving, only on startup.

thanks for the info.

which sensor is it? There are a number of sensors in different locations. If its the one actually on the exhaust it should be an easy swap. Thumbs Up

It seems that I had the same issue last night with almost the same engine (L322 TDV8 4.4.). iCarsoft is telling me some weird values and it seems that also my exhaust gas temperature -bank 2 - sensor 2 gives a failure. No degrees! So this could give error P050E Restricted performance cold start...
