05 L322 GEARBOX HELP

HI all im changing the gearbox oil at the moment and when i took out the old filter the orange o ring wasnt there so i put my finger in the hole on g/b to see if it was there and it wasnt i moved my finger around i might have dislodged a spring i just heard a click i was going to put it back together and see anyone know whats in that area where the neck of the filter goes thanks

There certainly shouldn’t be anything else inside the suction port. It goes straight to the oil pump.
