That's a handy looking bit of kit & not a bad price.

Unfortunatly, it's on back oirder otherwise I would have bought one.

Ive seen some horrific accidents caused by an inadvertent short with a spanner. The worst one the guy got acid in his eyes and burns to his face from the explosion, he lost total sight in one eye, most of his sight in the other eye and was scarred for life. That was on a Merc Sprinter with a leisure battery installed under the drivers seat. As you say, you shouldnt understimate 900+ CCA, it can do a LOT of damage to the people nearby and the vehicle. BMW i3 Electric Car

Thanks for the heads up but I absolutely refuse to have anything to do with amazon for deep rooted ethical reasons. 2003 Range Rover Vogue TD6

I used a simple multimeter and clamped the probes into the battery connectors, left the wires running under the back of the bonnet so that I could use the MM from the top side of the bonnet, enabling me to close the bonnet. Leaving my bonnet open meant that it took bloody ages for the car to power everything off before I could see a proper indication of the drain and this made the work far more time consuming. With the bonnet closed, it was much quicker to work through it all.

In the end, I traced the source of my multi-amp drain to the OBD port. If I closed the cover on the ODB port, I would get a drain of a few amps, quite a lot actually, IIRC about 5-7 amps. If I opened the cover, the drain would disappear. My battery has been OK ever since I cable tied the OBD cover in an open position.

Hope some of this is helpful, and good luck.
Mark

Hi you must have a different obd port, on my L322 the cover hangs down any way.
What I did find is that the GAP IID Tool was drawing about 2 amps if I left it in.

After checking amp draw on shut down I ended up with .109 amps. Fairly acceptable I hope , now I leave the car if parked a while with a solar charger.

On mine the cover clips into place, or hangs down. For some some reason the cover has a couple of connector pins on the cover. I simply cable tied the cover to the under side of the dash, holding it in the open position.

Glad you got it sorted. My list of To-do is growing and getting on my nerves now.
