has anyone considered getting bigger ( or better brakes ) , don't expect to stop her on a sixspence, but OEM is just not good enough for me, had new discs and pads before Xmas and 6 months later I feel like I should have figured out something better last time, I have seen later RR's with Brembo's - but maybe there are some other ideas to consider ?

I put EBC green stuff pads on mine, was a good improvement... also make sure the calipers are running free and not seized  Pete

Pete,
Definitely one of your first jobs should be to drive out the front retaining pins and clean them , then possibly smear in your non copper brake grease , even if the pads are not yet ready for changing.
If they are left untouched for the full pad life they are a pig to drift out, but done regular the job is easy.

Mine would bring the ABS in if I jumped on them at 70mph, you can't get any better, maybe you have other issues going on..!!

Cross drilled and slotted front discs give the feeling of increased braking power on my 03 L322......they are noisy compared to standard
My son has a 07 Supercharged with Brembos, i have fitted cross drilled and slotted front discs, same increase in noise and a sense of greater braking power
It is well possible to induce brake fade on a spirited down hill twisty drive, pushing pretty hard though and probably well beyond the driving skill of 90% of drivers.

Definitely flush your brake lines at least every 3 if not 2 years and an upgrade of the friction materials from standard is likely to reduce brake fade and maintain optimum performance.

Tires are pretty important, I know mine are getting a bit hard due to age, ABS is activating quite often in the wet at pretty moderate braking requests.
If you are hammering your brakes in the dry and ABS is relatively inactive under most circumstances you have good tires and are unlikely to get much more out of the brakes than what you are getting.

Without and objective assessment we are running on a gut feeling really with regard to brakes, Im impressed with the stopping power on offer in a crash avoidance situation even from 110km/hr, that is for a heavy vehicle......you are not going to be pulling up like anything that weighs 1000kg less than a FF.

Multiple applications in a race style of onroad driving certainly exposes their limitations but as I say 90% of drivers would be them selves at the limits of brake power available in a FF

Assuming all your brake components are in good order booster(s), lines, master cylinder and tires and importantly wheel alignment (dont underestimate this)

#1 Flush your fluid
#2 Upgrade to cross drilled slotted rotors
#3 Greenstuff or similar friction materials

just not sure I want to stay with stock though, I have EBC green stuff pads on the car already, and the fluids were flushed just before Xmas, even with new brake dics / rotors ( drilled and grooved ) I feel I want more

If you buy the calipers , make sure you get these supercharged or TDV8 L322 parts, not the more common on eBay RR Sport Brembo 4 pots.
