Bulge in sidewall.

I’ve probably had this for ages and not noticed but now I have I feel no alternative but to get a new tyre fitted ASAP (I’ve got it booked in for 9.30 tomorrow) fortunately I have a new tyre that fits the criteria (less than 5 years old and never been used ) and the garage want fifteen quid to fit and balance. The old tyre has lots of tread on it but I feel I have no alternative but to fit the new one and bin the old one. Am I right? Geoff

Hi Geoff. Definitely bin it and put the new one on. It’s annoying I know to bin a good tyre but bulges means the structure of the tyre has been compromised so I wouldn’t take the risk.

Yup. Apart from the danger of blowing it can also go out of balance. John

Definitely bin it fast !

I had a tyre that was 2 days old & had 60 miles on it a few years ago.
A bit of violent off-roading caused a golf ball sized bulge in the sidewall - fortunately on the outside where someone else spotted it..
I had to drive home with it as my spare was a very different size & after 10 miles of careful driving at 30mph max the bulge exploded, dropping the car onto the rim on that corner. If I'd been driving any faster I would have lost control - even though we always assume rear tyres are less of a potential problem Paul,

My son in law had a nail through his tyre, too close to the edge for them to repair, he bought a new one, got less than a mile from the shop and had another nail go through the tread and out the sidewall of the new tyre, returned to buy another new one... (the guy did feel sorry for him and gave it him at cost)

So think yourself lucky... Thumbs Up Pete

Conti - it’s interesting when I read you should buy premium. That being said I’ll be replacing with Pirelli. Geoff

Pirelli have just bought out a new Zero.

It’s an all season like the Verde, but not a “green” version. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
