Center console leather cubby top removal

For an L405, does anyone know how to remove/replace the center leather console top? On my L322 you just removed the screws and you could replace the leather cover. The L405 seems a little more complicated. Thank you in advance!

Well apparently after removing the 2 little chrome side clips, I don't have the 4 screws as on the 2019 so not sure how the mechanism releases. Mike

Hi J,
So I am looking at the rod that goes through the assembly and wondering if you tap it out with a punch, looks like from the driver side

Still can't figure out how to punch the rod out. It looks like it goes toward the passenger seat as the right end of the rod is larger than the left. Looks like it should just punch out but I'm afraid ill break it.
