Turbo Actuator Problem SDV8

Hello all I am new here and Experiencing a problem with the primary turbo on my 2013 SDV8.
When I purchased the car this year in mid January it was fabulous with no issues, recently i have noticed a noise on the drivers side primary turbo, abit like a hoover noise. both turbos had been changed before i purchased the car so I am wondering what it could be, no fault codes come up but on my ICARSOFT data it says Boost Pressure Actuator Bank 1 measured positioned is Unknown/Invalid. since then i have changed the actuator but it has changed nothing. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

sorry if the image is sideways!

Do a search,
I have read something on here about oil contamination on the wiring.
Possibly associated with the oil level sensor.
I seem to remember a technical bulletin referred to., but I don’t recall details because it refers to L405’s.

BB you are correct, there is a TSB relating to the oil sensor wiring, which then affect the turbo operation. It was down as an outstanding alert on the online service history, but has now disappeared. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I think you are right Cam Tech Craig I had a split turbo hose made a terrible sucking sound on boost plus a drop in power.

What fault codes are actually stored on the car?

Thank you for the replies, the actuator is holding the VGT open constantly and this is the reason for the noise, when the actuator is disconnected the noise goes away. I’ve physically inspected the whole system and there are no air leaks. I’m going to go with electrical is the issue as the actuator can’t communicate with the car. There are no fault codes stored. Turbo Rod which connects to the actuator moves freely without any interference so that’s a good sign?

Basmaignee,
I have been doing a search of the site, because I know I have read a thread detailing exactly the same symptoms as yours.
Unfortunately I can’t find it but , basically it referred to oil seeping up the wiring loom and giving problems with turbo actuation.
It definitely referred to a fix in a TSB.
You could either try Topix or contact a dealer to get full details, or just hope the original poster reads this thread and gives you a link to the post.

Thank you BB, I had a very intense search when you mentioned it but couldn’t find anything. I will have a look on Topix, and I’ve been looking at the wiring diagrams. Will have a play today and see what I can come up with! Thanks alot

I wonder if this thread is any help. It is pretty long but on page 8 Red Merle posted a solution to the problem he had. May not be relevant but you can look.

https://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic48181...;start=105

Red Merle may be along to contribute.

Good luck

PS. Just seen Mikey's post. Thumbs Up John

Unfortunately I think the fix above is a preventative measure. If it is what is wrong with yours, fingers crossed not, then fixing it once it has happened isn’t as straightforward as the TSB. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Problem Solved, horrendous amount of play in the turbo. Currently in the process of changing it myself without lifting the body. See how this goes...
