Well that’s how it feels tonight. Tomorrow I’m going to pick up the car I put a deposit on over 5 weeks ago and it’s fair to say I’m more than a little excited. It’s been a very long 5 weeks!

I’ve just sold my 2010MY RRS 5.0 SC, which was a bit of a wrench, but I’ve wanted a FFRR since I was a lad so I’m replacing it with a 2013 L405 Vogue SDV8. It’s in Indus silver with black 22” turbines, 59k miles, one owner and full dealer history. There are so many different exterior colour, wheel, trim combinations on the L405 that it was a stroke of good fortune that this fine example was available in the same colours as my RRS, which I think looks fantastic.

I joined the forum a couple of months ago and have done plenty of reading on the L405. The buying guide in the Wiki section has been particularly helpful, but I’d be grateful for any suggestions on what to check in more depth when we get it back on the ramps in our workshop. It’s just been serviced and had an air con re-gas, but is there anything you’d check/do as a matter of course on a newly acquired car of this vintage?

It’s great to finally say hello. Thanks in advance for any tips/advice.

Collected the car this afternoon and it’s fabulous. The only hiccup is that it doesn’t appear that the air con re-gas has been done. It certainly wasn’t blowing cold on the way home but the dealer has said he’ll sort it straight away.

So, now I’m looking for any opportunity to jump in and drive it. The other half wants a bottle of wine... I’m sure there’s a Co-op 50 miles away!
