Engine Start Button Replacement

Hello all

I would like to replace my faded and scratched engine start button. I know there are two types, one four pin and one five pin. Either way, do you need to disconnect the battery to replace this item as I have a feeling that this maybe hot-wired to the battery? If on reconnecting the battery, do you lose the radio code (if the L405 has one) and what other resets would have to be done i.e. windows, tailgate etc? Regards.
