Vibration/shakes at speed

Strange one...car is silky smooth when driving, but when I hit 80mph (off road of course) the car starts to violently shake, to me like a wheel is falling off.. if you push past it a bit you get back to smooth and it’s smooth all the way below... any ideas where to start? Current stable:
2006 BMW M6
2007 4.2 V8 S/C FF
Gone:
2002 4.4 V8 FF

I agree with Stan Thumbs Up

Worn bushes on the front arms are another suspect.

It’s had it for a while and I had 3 new tyres last month (was doing prior) BUT I suppose Sod’s law the fourth one may be the villain Current stable:

Is the tyre you didn't replace on the back? If so, swap it with one on the front. If you can then feel it shake through the steering wheel have it balanced. Has your old tyre got similar tread depth to the new ones. Cheers Kev.

I had exactly the same thing

The day I picked up my car and drove it home on the motorway when I felt the shaking I took to a garage where they told me BOTH lower control arms were shot (the mechanic showed me!!) and then after these were replace get a 4 wheel alignment and ensure its a hunter or KVS machine they use for this and im sure it will disappear like mine did, mine is now silky smooth all the way up to and beyond 80Mph A Rangerover is for life not just for christmas

Thanks - it had both arms changed last year so hopefully they are ok - I had it on a kvs machine so the tyre is the last thing I can think of! Current stable:

I had a rogue tyre fitter mess up the balancing on a tyre twice in a row. I took it back and he still got it wrong.

Caused me a load of head scratching and grief before I took it to my usual tyre shop. Who ironically have a far less high tech balancing machine.
