Hi All,
I'm in the process of putting in an upgraded rear view camera in my 2005 SC.
One of the previous owners had just joined the co-axial cable with tape.
Can anyone point in the right direction for the type of connectors needed?

i dont think there are specific connectors...if its just two bits of cable joined together then tape will be ok... ... - .- -.

Thanks for the reply. I'll explain a bit more what I'm looking for.
I have ordered a replacement/upgrade camera. (See image below)
The connectors that it comes with should be a plug and play for the existing connections, of which the two wire block connector is still present (black and red) but the coaxial cable connector is no longer there.
I'm just looking to try and order replacement screw-in co-axial connector (Male, I assume?) for the wiring loom end to make it a better fit.
I have looked trhough all the various topics on the Forum but have yet to find what size/type of connector it is?

There are coax connectors available. https://www.elecbee.com/fr/38-connecteur-uhf I have used them for antenna feed connections. It's just whether you need to go to that extent for the rear view camera. John

I just can't understand anybody advising "tape joints" (even on signal cables - in anycase, the signal needs to be shielded) especially on a vehicle as complex as a FF. 2003 Range Rover Vogue TD6

I bought it on Ebay but here is the sellers website: www.luxurylandroverupgrades.com.
They have several options.

IMHO yes you should be using a coax connector. I fitted the same camera as you however my car still had the correct coax connector in place.

The connector Land Rover used is a industry standard, unfortunately I don't know what it is called but a trawl of the websites of RS Components and Farnell should help you find it. Both sites have detailed data on every connector they sell, so measure the cable diameter and the connector diameters and use the filters to help.

I had a quick look for you but without success ( I don't have the cable data to hand as mine is all assembled) so it will take some effort and time.

You could call luxury land rover upgrades, they should know what connector is used.

Yes I think I've found it. Its a SMB-C female basket connector, similar to a Fakra type connector.
It's actually difficult to find. The coax is only 2mm width.
But hoping that when it comes it will be a quick reassemble, as I have alrerady mounted the new camera in place.

Funny enough I fitted a new camera back in the day. I just soldered the wires and used some heat shrink - perfect - still working today AFAIK. I did take the trouble to ensure that the screening was preserved but I tested (whilst waiting for heat shrink to arrive) with just the wires twisted together again no problems. My experience would suggest that plugs and sockets are often the cause of problems (that's probably why I didn't bother or maybe it was cost and availability - I really cant remember) and of course depending on how the plugs and sockets fit you might have to get the cutters and soldering iron out anyway.

A direct soldered joint will always be better than a plug and socket. Geoff

I stripped out the old camera from within the housing and reseated this in it.
I've set-up and installed it back in the vehicle and I'm just waiting for a new connector to try it out.

I'm pretty sure you can get these for around £10. That's what I spent on mine from eBay in 2018 and it works a treat. You do have to overcome the connector issues, but as others have indicated, soldering and heat shrink works well.
