Nice work Stan, thanks for that.

I don't mind giving the garage the work, but thought I'd have a go at clearing them out first as its possibly just blockage.

I might take the carpets up at the doors, have you done that? I'll check the pdf link in case its in that also.

Cheers

Haven’t tried it myself but would rodding them with strimmer flex clear out the blockage? That was my plan when I tested mine for blockage (they were clear).

Had a good chat with the owner of the garage tonight tbh, and think I'll just let them put new drains in. He thinks they are perished so probably just wasting my time.

It needs a few other bits done to it, so will just get them to service it and do the batteries and discs and pads.....I'll get the right ones this time!! lol all smug in my new plug!

Why don’t you just give a good squirt of WD40, using the straw supplied with the can, down each drain tube. Way cheaper and less hassle than replacing the drain tubes.....

I did see a video of that. He reckoned they were likely corroded as its putting water into the headliner and down the C pillar. all smug in my new plug!

So are these drain tubes made of metal that they would be corroded ?
I thought they would just be some type of rubber ?
As mechanics first statement was the drains might just be perished.
To clear them out with flex rod would one do this from the lower end under the car ?
I can't see how one would get to the top at the back of the pano glass roof is this the way to do it.
Or could one just blow pressurised air through the lines from the bottom end?
Interesting post , great to know the fix, thanks for all the replies.

Get it sorted out, or you could lose your vehicle. Rust can get so bad that there is no way of repairing the drain or hose. The entire sunroof assembly frame would have to be replaced. This exact problem/damage totaled my 2014 ATB. Bad design flaw. The tip that the hose connects to will rust away to nothing inside the hose and continue working until it breaks off entirely.

Shocked Yikes!!!

Scary Stuff!

Am I right in saying us lesser mortals with fixed pano roof don’t have to worry about such things?
(I’m paranoid enough about my TDV6 crankshaft snapping like a twig as it is! Confused )

One advantage of “Poverty Spec” Vogue is, there’s less to go wrong as the vehicle ages…………. Laughing “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?

I checked my sunroof drains over the weekend and found one blocked, and the other clear but I've no idea where the water goes to as none seemed to come out at the bottom. Carpets are not wet though. More investigation is requried...

I did find this, which I found quite useful:

 Current:
- 2013 L405 4.4 TDV8 Vogue
Sold:
- 2004 L322 4.4 Vogue (BRC LPG)
- 2002 L322 4.4 HSE (having fixed timing chain guides)
- 2000 P38 4.6 Vogue (BRC LPG)
- 1981 2-door In-Vogue
- 1980 Ex-Army SIII LWB
- 1976 SIII LWB

Stan, no-one replied to my above remark re the Vogue TDV6 with fixed pano roof - obviously us lesser mortals have no roof drains to clog?

Am I right in saying a few older vehicles have been written off due to corrosion caused by this, or is that an internet myth? Shocked

Something folks should check regularly, anyway. “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?

WaterloggedFFRR seems to be suggesting that his 2014 was written off because of this. Current:
