I will post some pics of the cans iv used I'm waiting for the van to warm up before I do the other wheels. No way I would want to do this again without a decent mini sander or sandblaster

That's a really nice job you've done! You've certainly got a lot more patience then I have!

I highly recommend Halford's Bodyshop lacquer :

https://www.halfords.com/motoring/paints-a...09168.html

NOT their standard one
https://www.halfords.com/motoring/paints-a...68843.html

I would not typically shop at Halfords for paint, but on a Sunday midway through painting, you have no alternative.
I'm glad I opted for the Bodyshop one, it levels perfectly to a glass-smooth finish - the spraying cap may be part of the great results.

Even Craig was surprised when he saw my L405 wing mirror covers when I was done: they looked straight from the factory. l=Oo\________/oO=l l:OolΞΞΞΞΞΞΞloO:l

About taking the wheels off, when you have the time, it's much better to do it and any shop will take your tyres off for free as long as you come back to take them off and rebalance afterwards. A couple of fivers goes a long way Thumbs Up l=Oo\________/oO=l l:OolΞΞΞΞΞΞΞloO:l

Yes it would have been better to have the tyres removed but during the lockdown no one was open soooooo get the masking tape out. Luckily good old bayofe was still working so pai t could be bought and delivered.

I will have access to my mates tyre machine for the spare this time.

As we're still in lockdown - I don't feel too guilty for suggesting that you consider tackling the side vents next Whistle

They should match either the wheels or the body colour IMHO Thumbs Up

So here we are a few months along and iv had the side vent, front grill, bonnet vent and silly boot lid silver trim colour coded

Best thread on here for a long time!!!

Great effort by the way, and appreciate sharing the info!! I'm considering a set of winter wheels for my L405 and seeing this thread makes me think about buying some ones in need of TLC that arent diamond cut, as I'd like a bit more profile of a 20 or 21, so brilliant work and thanks again for sharing!!

Car looks super!! Wee cheap dateless private plate on it would look the bizzo!!! all smug in my new plug!

Thanks for the reply. I'm still on the look out for a private plate worthy of the car or having a meaning to me and no one else.

I'm still todo my headliner at some point I'm just trying to decide on colour and material lol. Today's effort was to replace a headlight lense which has has a small hole in it since I got the car, put some nice bright canbus free led bulbs in the side lights while I was there.
