DualView and HDMI audio through headphones

I have a noob question.

When the front passenger has the TV on, the audio works through the headphones. A FireTV stick has been plugged into HDMI but when switching over to it, no audio comes through the headphones. With the car parked I could get the audio to work through the main stereo but not the headphones.

What am I doing wrong?!

I gave up with this and took a different approach.
Got some decent noise cancelling Bluetooth headphones and paired them to the FireTV stick. Works really, really well!
