Denso starter motor

I’m about to get my Indie to change the starter motor on my 2011 4.4, you know the odd click every now and then when trying to start. It seems Denso make the starter motor for LR. By having a Denso fitted, am I just buying into the same fault as I have now, ie burnt solenoid contacts. Or have Denso improved this weak spot on there motors? I notice there are other makes of starter motor, but I like to use OE parts were I can. Anyone got an opinion?

I'd stick with Denso. Most have on here with no issues...I think it's just a wear and tear thing... 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

don't know how many miles your car's done (or more relevantly - how many starting cycles) but mine is still on original OE starter at 110k

42K miles but as you point out, I suppose it depends on the number of times the solenoid has been activated. Annoying when you think there is nothing wrong with motor, apart burnt contacts.

Fit a new replacement, then strip and clean the contacts in your old one for a free replacement ready for next time it fails.

I did find a site today that sells Denso solenoid replayments. Could find one for ours though. But if they make them for lots of others, I wonder why they don’t do LR032541.

Good luck with your search, but I don’t think you will find the bits we all need.
I took mine to a local specialist Auto electricians who spends
all day repairing and replacing starter motors and alternators, but , with all his contacts, he failed to find them .
Their is plenty of meat in the contacts, so will file down a couple of times.

Further to my previous reply....
I think some form of anti spark grease such as used in heavy duty electrical switch gear is worth further investigation.
Electrolube is a possibility.

Managed to order a new Denso to day, good price, £200 using a £50 discount voucher. I will have a go at refurbishing the contacts on the old starter, see what they look like.

i had what i thought was a problem a click every now and then when pushing the button. turns out a battery charge and hold the button until the car begins to turn over problem solved. i think the issue in my case was releasing the starter button too early Mr. Green 2012 Vogue 4.4 TDV8 - Current
