Over the last couple days I retimmed the parcel shelf.

When I got the car it didn’t have its original shelf, so the dealer gave me a rather grim spare one he had...and I’ve hated it ever since! I replaced a couple of the pins earlier in the year.

It wasn’t a ‘fun’ but quite satisfying. I got a piece of near Jet coloured pvc leather (100 cm x 140 cm) and set about fitting it with contact adhesive. I used 120 wooden clothes pegs to secure the sides down and black coloured glue sticks with the glue gun to ensure the underside doesn’t lift or peel away.

I’m a lot happier with it! The handle area is ‘ok’ as I couldn’t figure how to remove it so I just covered over it.

I did a few ‘dry run’ minus the glue to understand how the fabric would move and work with the shelf when opening and folding etc. I just made sure the fabric was glued down to ensure it followed the contours.

Large air bubbles endlessly formed, it was like playing whackamole each time one appeared, it was like that until the glue went off, so quite laboursome.
