Norway 2004 Range Rover HSE Td6 Bonatti Grey
Engine doesnt fire - L322 TD6 2003

Ok.. So a little problem with my L322 TD6 2003. Cold climate these days about 1 minus celcius in average. Anyways;

The Rangie were used last weekend, parked since sunday, tried to fire it up today with no luck. Turned the key over, «Pre-heating» came and the normal «bong» sound. Tried to start it and fires for one second before it dies. Sometimes it fires and stop, and sometimes its only cranking.

No faults are logged. Voltage dropped so hooked the car up to my daily driver (D3) to give it stable voltage.

Still no luck.... Any tips are more than welcome!

Red off the live values and it seems like LpFP is doing what it sjould. Giving around 4.5-5.0 bar to the HPFP. The HPFP is also givg reading under cranking. So im guessing thats ok.

It could be that all the glow plugs have given up and need replaced. The engine would probably start even if just one was working. Even though you are getting the preheating message it would be worth also checking the glow plug relay is working correctly.
Should be one or the other.

Thanks for the tip!
Took the engine covers off and measured the glow plugs; 12 volt are coming ttue the cables, and if I hook the plugs up to 13 volt from battery, they extremly hot.

So the glow plugs get hot if connected to 13V directly?
Do they get hot if you put the ignition on until the preheat message appears and goes off?
Even if you have 12V at the glow plugs it doesn't necessarily mean there is sufficient power there to heat the plugs.

Have you tried a squirt of "easy start" or similar?
It's not something I would suggest on a regular basis but I do find it useful to help fault finding

If you believe you have fuel, and glow plugs OK (but as NDFI says, car should start without them) then next thing to check is the wiring loom to the injectors, and do a leak off test on the injectors to ensure that fuel is actually coming.

When was the last time you changed the fuel filter? .

Norway 2004 Range Rover HSE Td6 Bonatti Grey

Car is running again; were some cracked wiring to the camshaft sensor that were broke. Had to remive the plug and dig out the soldering iron to get it up and running. Now she starts om the first, wiers it didnt throw any fault.
