Yeah I looked at this, seems to me that she put the car in to reverse and left the engine running. If it had just rolled as stated then it would have stopped once it initially hit the lady. I'm sure LR will have to carry out a full inspection of the vehicle for faults so in the meantime it's just speculation for us observers. Either way it's a sad outcome for the family 2011 TDV8 Vogue SE

Sad outcome, but you can't blame the car, it's clearly driver error. MY23 Panamera E-Hybrid

Pretty sure it automatically should select park if you turn it off..... There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I feel the need for some testing.

Mine certainly goes doom Drive (or Sport) into Park if I turn it off - that's my normal routine, I rarely select Park myself. Not sure what happens if it's in Neutral and you switch off though.

As above though, I'm not sure it's a failure of the car - unless it's jumping out of Park somehow.

The L322 owners manual states that if in neutral when switched off then park will be selected after 10 minutes. The gearbox has to be in gear to immediately select park.

Is it not easy to see which gear it is in from looking at the illuminated display just in front of the dial?

That's horrific!

Is it normal to exit a car in the states leaving it running? If so, that maybe needs to be addressed no?

As she had 2 children she doesn't qualify for a Darwin Award but she should get an honourable mention.

Dunc. The life you have is the only one you'll get; make the most of it.

Drivers confused? Well fair enough. So if it confuses you, then surely you make sure you put the hand brake on Wink

Sad it ended like this, but come on, some people really shouldn't be driving...

Shocking Story. Terrible for the family. Just when you think your having a bad day.

Without causing death, but came pretty close.

20 Years ago, I had an S-Class Mercedes that had been in for repair. It Careered across the car park (not in my usual spot - otherwise it would have been onto a busy road). My 11 year old daughter was in the car.

Mercedes Garage had not carried out repairs correctly after replacing the gearbox.

Had I known what I know now, I would have sued the pants off emm. They had the car more than I did for repairs prior to that.
