I've seen a few posts on Facebook and on here about removal of EGR and DPF on the 4.4 but there is a lot of cloak and daggers about it....
Thought it might be a good excuse to start a thread to capture any findings, thoughts and hopefully some solutions!

Mine is chipped and had the EGR valves done at the same time. At the moment DPF is still working, apparently it should be cleaner now there is no EGR anyway. Don’t know how right that is but if they go wrong I’ll get the dpf deleted too. All easy enough according to my man :thumbup:

I think I’m right in saying that if you are going to do it, you need to do both? As egrs do something with the temperature when doing a DPF regen.....

Though as above, it may not be necessary to do both.

Would be a cracking engine without the strangulation of emissions gubbins..... 🤣

The other bonus with no EGR is that there’s no more hot gas to blow holes in your rubbish plastic intake manifold 👍

Just for your info, some foreign market 4.4tdV8’s were produced without the DPF fitted.
If you look in the exhaust section of the WM their are pictures and details, but I guess they are few and far in numbers.

Personally I'd like no EGR and no DPF.

I don’t know mate, I didn’t click any further, I only did a Google search for 4.4 TDV8 DPF removal.

So it is commercially available if you feel the need to do it.

I only bought my 2007 3.6 in October past and left it into my local indy for a thorough check over as it is my first RR. Whilst there I asked about remapping and EGR blanking or removal.

He was all for remapping as they do a full diagnostic and mechanical appraisal first and if all is ok they do the remap with a 12 month back up should anything go bang. If I remember correctly it costs £250ish for the remap which takes the bhp up to 310ish but I cant remember the torque figure.

As for the EGR's he said that blanking them is not recommended as it causes overheating issues on these engines but they can be electronically deleted along with the DPF's but again he didnt recommend it. On past cars I have nearly always blanked the EGR's without any issues as they have always been a source of problems as engines start to get more and more mileage on them so I dont understand why it cant be done on these engines. Are they really that over engineered and complex?

Oz 4.4 L322s don't have a DPF.

EGR valves get closed by engine management when performing a DPF regen so that ALL the fuel-rich exhaust gas goes to the catalytic converter that needs the fuel to get hot enough to burn the soot accumulated in the DPF.

I blocked my 4.4's EGR pipe which made light throttle nicely responsive but as soon as the throttle was backed-off the ecm closed the EGR butterfly trying to cause more exhaust gas recirculation to lower emissions but with EGR blocked the engine almost stalled, so the EGR pipe had to be unblocked. I look forward to having EGR mapped-out.

Hi there. Yours has the 3.6 which is a totally different set up to the 4.4. There is a thread in the Wiki for the 3.6.
Answer is yes, you can with a £40 kit and very successfully too. You may not even need it digitally deleting for a 2007 car.

Looking at your next post with anticipation Rob. I would love to be able to boot mine from a stand still and for it to go forwards. Lol.
