Morning folks,

Does anyone know what the metal lugs on either end of the front Brembo's are for as I have spent hours trawling t'interweb and can find nada about them?

Long story short and like so many others......needed discs and pads, unbolted callipers, bolt rips a calliper thread to shreds

Now that Ive repaired the thread and whilst they're off I might as well refurb the callipers but the lugs are in such rag order that they're now residing in my scrap bin and I don't intend putting them back on again.

Do they serve any actual purpose that would necessitate them being refitted?

Edit : found a photo that shows them.
Those parts are usually added to help control NVH (Noise Vibration & Harshness) from the brake system.
By adding weight they can change the frequency of any noise OR if thy're lucky eliminate it. Paul,

Cheers for that guys. Im doing the exact same job atm just waiting on the anodised pistons and seals kit to arrive as the pistons all had varying degrees of coating peeling away from the piston. Some of the larger flakes had actually caused small tears in two of the dust covers so I thought it better to be safe than sorry.

As for the metal lugs......still no wiser. I have emailed Brembo but no reply as yet. I'll post as and when but I still cannot figure out why they are fitted. What I have noticed during the hours trawling the internet is that they only seem to be only fitted on RR calipers. If it is to help reduce or eliminate noise I guess I'll realise fairly quickly when its back on the road.

Ive just been doing a bit of research about it so I'll see what its like when I get it back on the road again sometime this week but I better dig them back out of the bin just in case  Current collection :

You can safely run without them.
They might not even help with brake noise if you refit them as they will have been "tuned" relative to the OE wheels, brake discs, brake pads, suspension air bags & dampers.
Change any of those factors & they weights may do nothing useful. Paul,

They are called Harmonic Dampers, they are commonly found on your exhaust system as well as many other components and stop vibrations/noises...

Google harmonic dampers and you will see how they are used to stop dangerous noises/vibrations in the building of bridges etc...
