How did you get the ducting out that goes to the vents on the dash? They are attached from the bottom which means the black plastic frame has to come out (or be moved) to get to the blower

I could certainly do it a lot quicker for a second go...really hope I don't have to though!! FSR ordered

Just looking through the owners manual and fuse 21R is not listed anywhere. The diagram in the workshop manual would indicate it is in the boot to me. Am I reading it wrong?

Britpart have just confirmed the same part number for the FSR is showing as valid against the VIN of this car. I am hoping it is a simple cash of the dying blower killing the FSR

The WM says 4 screws and a clip when I read it iirc....

There is a torx at the top left and top right. They are under the black plastic filler trim below the digi dash pod

Sadly no joy. I checked for power at fuse 21 and all good. I also gave that fuse a clean up.

New FSR fitted but no blower motor. I then pulled the plug off the FSR and checked for voltage in on the yellow and green wire which comes direct from the fuse, that is showing a healthy 14.4v with the car running.

What I don't get is any power from the blue and red signal wire coming from the heater control panel - I was expecting this to be between 2 and 9v per the manual (if I remember correctly as don't have it here). in any case with the selector on full I am getting no voltage on that wire tested at the plug.

What to do from here? I could carefully supply power to the motor via the FSR plug (and also an earth) to test function of the wiring to the blower. That would then leave me just with the feed from the control panel as the issue.

I could plug the diagnostics (Launch x431) into it and clear the fault nd check the data from that module? I think I read somewhere that they had the software reset to get it to work?

Plugged in today and had 4 permanent faults in the HEVAC module. 2 for temperature sensors and one connection issue (can't remember the last one)

I cleared but they came back. I decided I would take the unit off and check connections, they all seemed good but I disconnected and reconnected. Hey presto working fans!!

Just got a few trim panels to reattach now and I should be good

How to get the motor out?

I've looked through threads but can't find a definitive answer to this.

This is a 2012 car, so the blower motor etc is different from pre-2010 (I think) models.

The blower motor has stopped working, I managed to reach up in the driver's footwell and feel its vanes, they're stiff to turn so I believe the motor has failed. The FSR is hot, as it would be, as the motor will be drawing too much current in its jammed state.

So following some instructions but with a lot of personal discovery, I've got the dash top off, slid the entertainment system forward - I can see the round cowl of the blower down there, with a cable duct right above it, but I can't see how to get to it, get it out and then hopefully get it out.

Any ideas please?

Thanks!

A

Sorry just seen this. That black curved plastic cover unclips at the bottom and pivots at the top. You will need to push the cables back a bit to get more space. It is tight getting it off and tighter getting it back!!

With the very restricted space I can't make that cover budge.

I think I put a flat bladed screwdriver under the bottom and levered it up

Interesting video about replacing the main blower by cutting an access hole from the top of the dash down rather than removing the whole dash. Might be useful to someone. Not sure about the difference between pre and post 2010 models. Tom
