Logic 7 sound

I've put this in the general section because obviously both L322 and L405 have Logic 7 systems. Can someone explain please exactly what it's supposed to achieve? For me the quality of sound is massively improved with it turned off. I run all 'tone' controls at level 0, becasue I don't like artifically pumped up anything. I can't put my finger on what is wrong with the Logic 7, it just doesn't sound right. For the record it's all working properly, no stuffed speakers or anything and my Wife's Fatty sounds exactly the same. Sounds fine with it off, and CD's give easily the best sound.

What are other's experiences? Drives:

Logic 7 is essentially a surround sound system, so more fitting to sources such as movies and specific surround CDs. It’s not that good with normal music as that’s just a stereo source.

I turn mine off, and get much better more normal sound, from standard music CDs.

My L405 has a Meridian surround sound in it and to be honest I thought all 405s did. The HK Logic 7 in my L322 was awesome mind, probably better then the Meridian kit I have now.

my personal view is that even the basic system is enough for the FF..

with traffic , engine and road noise you wont get the benefits of a superior sound setup, maybe at home yes but not in the FF..

i had logic 7 in my westie and found the normal setitngs were better. ... - .- -.

To my ears it depends a lot on the recordings and the type of music. Certain styles really benefit from the surround effects even when not present in the original recordings.

The one thing I don’t like is that it seems to restrain and muffle the sound slightly. But considering the size of the full fat the sound stage often does need a little help.

It’s one thing I wish I had, the more powerful system. I find I have to go turn up the volume more in the relatively lowly powered standard logic 7 system on the My2010 range.

Just like with cars, with music amps as well you can never have enough power and more specifically the power reserves.

But at least acoustically it’s not that bad in the autobiography version with leather ceilings and everything, and acoustic glass.

But as there are so many variations of the full fatty it’s hard to make any sweeping generic statements in them.

Interesting replies guys. I know all the blurb about logic 7, it's just that, to me, it doesn't achieve anything. My car doesn't have DVD and I don't think many people (passengers obviously) watch TV when on the move, so that leaves other sources, such as CD and they sound tight, muffled and compressed on Logic 7. They do sound ok without it though. I have no idea what the HD version of the HK set up sounds like, but as has already been said, in general you can't have too much power, it controls the speaker drivers better at all volumes. Drives:
