InControl Connectivity

I'm curious as to how my InControl app communicates with my car even without a SIM card installed.

Any clues? Is there another built in SIM somewhere? 2017 4.4 SDV8 Autobiography

The telematics module has its own built in SIM - uses this for inControl Apps and the tracker.
The user SIM (which you put in the slot in the media interface panel) is used for web browsing, traffic updates, satellite imagery for the nav system and the on-board wi-fi
