Range Rover 2011 5.0 s/c Auto/b Engine OIL

I want to change the oil of my Range Rover L322 2011 Autobiography 5.0 Supercharged myself. I have ordered all the filters and a Mityvac 7201.

The recommended oil from what I have researched is Castrol Edge 5w20 fully-synthetic.

I have been trying to find that but its not availabe in UK, neither is the Mobil 1.

Has Range Rover changed the recommended oil for these model? What engine oil do you use and how often do you change the oil?

Two addon question that I had were, first regarding Engine clean, is it worth doing? And second, is it worth adding ceramic wear protection (Cera Tec)?

Thanks in advance

Any brand of oil to the factory spec is fine...

Don't change it too often, modern oils will work for a long time so there is no need to do it any more than JLR says...

Personally I wouldn't use any oil additives at all, they are not used or advised by car makers, if they don't use or recommend them it says something to me...

Remember, If it ain't broke, don't fix it... Thumbs Up

Others will be along soon to disagree, so as usual, make your own mind up and do what makes you happy, it's your car... Thumbs Up Pete

What Pete said - I don't use additives either.

I gave up trying to find the Castrol which only seemed to be available from dealers in 1L containers. I now use Shell Helix Ultra Professional 5W20 which is readily available in 5L and 1L - the spec is WSS-M2C948-B which exceeds and is backward compatible with WSS-M2C948-A which is listed in the owner's manual. Usually about £35-40 for 5 litres and from memory I think it's 8 litres for an oil change.

I change the oil and filter every 10k miles. Also keep an eye on your air filters which should be changed regularly.
