Hydraulic lock, boom.

That’ll be cream crackers then. Probably a new engine job, which as He says in the article is economically not viable. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

There are so many comments posted on this site that I wish I had never read. How do we sleep at night?

By factoring in that the vast majority see out mega mileages with few issues. Keeping on top of maintenance and changing things like EGRs as service items. Never had a sleepless night owning a 3.6, 4.4 or my current SDV8 There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

2012 Range Rover Westminster TDV8 Causeway Grey

I think I recall last year 2020(?) that JC mentioned in his 'newspaper' column that his local LR garage had killed his otherwise OK running RR (OK suggested) after it had had a full service or such?!? Or maybe I'd spent a tad too long using contact adhesive trying to bodge my leaking all-weather boots, as the candle wax treatment from five years ago was beginning to wear off?!?
Does anyone recall this mention of his in his 'newspaper' column?!? Him suggesting his garage had killed off his otherwise trusty RR? I had a service recently (last week - needed the stamp) at one of my local LR/RR 'specialists' outlets and was silently caking it that they might assassinate my trusty/untrusty beastie - though seems fine so far... even though their diagnostics suggested it was rusting and rattling in places where others' have said it is just fine... Had a similar diagnostics with my Jag XK8 several years ago at a Jag 'specialist' outfit in Eastbourne, telling me it was almost falling apart and that £14,000 would put it right again - even though it's value was only £11,000 at the time...
Can you trust anyone these days?
