Cost of a B service

Hi guys,

I called my local LR dealer today (Roger Young-Saltash) to ask about booking our 2015 SDV8 in for a service & MoT.

I was told it needs a B service at a cost, before any discount, of approx £750

I just wanted to know is this a fairly standard cost? It’s our first service since buying it last year so have no prior experience around LR service charges.

Also, could I get it serviced at an independent and maintain LR warranty?

Many thanks

That's a lot of money!

Go to a good LR affiliated Indy and all your warranty is fine as they'll use all LR parts and give you a proper Service history.

Should also say, it's worth looking at a LR Service plan. I do one with a local Indy at a cost of £45pcm inc Vat and I've never had to pay a penny over the monthly payment. Thumbs Up All LR cars from 1984

I paid £642 for a B service on mine back in January. I’m mid way between 2 dealers so called them both, one was over £700 but can’t remember the exact figure. MY23 Panamera E-Hybrid

From memory the 80k/5yr service is a biggie so £750 was about what I paid from MD last year. Includes transfer box, dynamic response and rear diff fluid changes (although its supposed to only be if its a active locking one but its priced regardless).

If its not that service though, sounds high. Current Fleet:-

Having just checked the LR website, the advertised price of the B service is £690 so am baffled why I was quoted £750?

I have sent their service department an email asking for confirmation of price Question

The LR recommended prices aren’t always adhered to by the dealers.......

If you have several local ish dealers, get some comparative prices, then get them to match each other. I had the one with the dynamic response reservoir done earlier in the year and it was about £650. Not sure it’s technically a/b service any more on the 405s each service seems to have different items to attend to. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

As we know, B service follows an A service again, then its an A service etc, the sequence continues, a B is almost the same as an A service + pollen filter/air filter & fuel filter. Unless you meet the extra requirements at a C service etc etc depends on your MY and engine etc I guess

So if you are not under any warranty scheme why would you let LR do it, when you can do it yourself or get a local garage to do it? All done at less than half the cost.
For example this company even comply with warranty schemes. (I have never used them, did a quick Google search).

It’s only covered by the LR/dealer 12 month extended warranty so am I free to shop around?

Technically yes, so long as the garage follows the service schedule, And uses genuine parts and recommended grades of oils.

It does, but shouldn’t, give the warranty provider room for wiggle...... My first FF was a LR dealer car, but had an Indy stamp in the book. Still managed a couple of claims though. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Was that local to me in Saltash? If so, would you be kind enough to put the link in to the website?

The words Wiggle room worry me somewhat in respect of any claim. Saving a few £££ on service costs may come to bite me in the bum in the event I need the warranty? Also Roger Young have been superb so far with a few minor issues I’ve had. They did a DPF regen a couple of weeks ago for me at no cost, which surprised me as I wasn’t certain this would be covered under any warranty as it’s a consequence of short journeys due to lockdown.
