Total brand motor oil?

Hi everyone,

I've been in the habit of using Mobil-1 full synthetic motor oil in all of my cars (of course of the correct weight).

I just had the oil changed at a LR specialist and it's the first time I've gone to this particular place. They got lots of very good reviews on Yelp and my overall impression of them was very good.

The owner said that he only uses Total brand motor oil and filters.

I hadn't ever heard of them here in the USA.

Is this brand good? He says it's better than the Mobil-1 I had been using? Any thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks!

Total are a French registered multi national oil company...

Nothing wrong with their products...

Better than Mobile...???

I doubt it, probably the same, then again most branded oil is much of a muchness these days..!! Pete

As Haylands said 'Much of a muchness' If the oils / filters are from a well known company with a good reputation, then they are near enough identical.

Could be that the Independent you used has negotiated a discount with Total as their main supplier, so he only uses their products, where possible. It's standard practice, lot's of companies do this, lowers the costs.
