Rear near side half shaft not turning? Seized?

Been a member for sometime, but this i my first post on here.

I have 2002 TD6 that has been stood for nearly a a year (recovery from an injury). Was restoring various parts including the shot rear-sills/arch (all plated and restored). Now able to do some work on her, I’m replacing brake lines, callipers, bushes etc. Anyway, managed to get the rear n/s hub off along with lower arm etc.

Originally, i thought that the hub had seized due to being stood for so long, however, now its all off, the drive shaft doesn’t turn. I tested (she’s on axle stands, all wheels off, new front shafts not fitted yet) by running in reverse, o/s turns, n/s doesn’t...

Before i try to remove the shaft and work out what’s going on, I could do with some advice, previous experiences of this issue and some guidance.

I have a sinking feeling about the diff... can anyone help me sleep easier at night?

Resolved - PB Blaster is as good as they say

Quick update. Resolved the seized drive-shaft!
I purchased some ‘PB Blaster’, I’m sure you’ve heard of it. I can wholly recommend it. Beats anything else I’ve tried. Liberally sprayed the joint between diff and shaft and left for 2 hours, sprayed again and success, the eshaft now. Turns. Just need to clean up the crap at the joint.

I got the PB blaster off amazon, not cheap but much less than the pain of dismantling and using heat. Have now sprayed the other side suspension and upper and lower arm bolts. Hoping these move easier than the n/s did.

Glad to hear that was all it needed, not seen this stuff before, will definitely be adding that to the garage stock.

I don’t usually plug products, especially those I’ve seen plugged on YouTube etc. But I’d seen it in a thread on a US site with video showing before and after. Thought it was worth a shot. There’s also a video showing how it ‘creeps’ up a bolt. I was sceptical, not now.
