a 'knocking' engine could be the legitimate reason for it being so cheap.. ... - .- -.

United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Vogue Td6 Zermatt Silver

The seller quotes 'Engine is knocking only when revving not on idle' and also states
quote - Seller's Warranty Expiry Date: 6 Months'
Something doesn't add up here, would bet it probably will need a new engine or complete engine re-build.

Think I’d rather buy one that’s not, err... knock knock knocking on heavens door....

Though a good spot, not a bad price if it’s not a daft fix....

Mileage is high for the age, but it’s specced well: premium sound, rear TV, towbar, etc. One could almost work out the maths of selling price + engine rebuild vs price for a “normal” equivalent, which could be somewhere north of £25k

bargain price but it needs the brake pipes looking at (MOT: Offside rear outer brake pipe corroded, covered in grease or other material (1.1.11 (c))

I would much rather pay the extra for this one!!

That’s a big difference, nearly 20k!

However, that’s a lovely looking LWB. I would have gone for one but it was at least £5k beyond my stretched budget when I bought mine. Also, I accept that so paid over the odds to buy from a dealer with a warranty, but that gives me the peace of mind that any pre-existing serious issues will become clear during the warranty. If they manifest afterwards, the. That’s just life, or maybe s’il take a 3rd party warranty (any recommendations?).

My angle is: get the top spec of the car you want, and if it’s an extraordinarily version like an LWB, it’s something that previous owners have bought for a reason, rather than as a mere commodity, and that speaks volumes to how it might have been driven and maintained.

I went for an early 405 AB rather than a slightly newer Vogue for the same reasons. Time will tell if I made the right call, but in all the cars I have owned previously, it’s been a good ethos that is seen me with minimal repair bills
