Some of the stopping distance numbers can be mind blowing - you see the same with winter tyres and people convinced their summers are just fine in cold conditions.

My favourite braking distance stat is the speed one - independent of tyre choice. The stopping distance @100MPH is double that at @70MPH. So from the same braking point, @70 when you are at a complete stop, the @100 car is still travelling @70 - now that really is the difference between walking away & not.
