Rust

Now my next few days off are booked in with changing the brakes and renewing the caliper seals i think it would be a good time to start tackling the under body rust. Nothing major just surface rust but want to get it sorted before waxoiling the whole car. I plan to wire brush then coat with something. I was thinking of hammerite straight to rust (black) or use their converter (dark brown). obviously the converter would need to be over painted, but which would be the best option?

I've had a little google and it appears gravitex is a stone chip type paint that can be put onto rust. Will it convert the rust or stop it's growth? Ideally want something that can paint straight on and convert the rust and stop it developing more and leave the underneath looking black or better.
