Green lane & Off road Insurance L405

Do any of you insure your L405's for off road use? I am keen to take mine on a few organised green laning days via LR experience but I'm damned if I can find anybody that will insure it.

The likes of Adrian Flux seemed keen to help until I told what vehicle it was. They then reckoned they couldn't get anybody to under write it. It's a 5 1/2 year old RR for goodness sake. It's not like I want it to do something it wasn't designed to do...

Any suggestions greatly received.

If it’s a public right of way which you’re entitled to drive on, why would you need any special kind of insurance?

A Green lane is just an unsurfaced road, you do not require extra insurance to drive on one and you are not offroading per se. Use a pay and play site or a private track and that is another matter.

You will however have the same issue I had with fatty off roader, most green lanes are Discovery width, take a fatty down them and you will damage both sides or even not be able to get through...

They live up to their "fatty" name... Thumbs Up Pete

The designation of green lanes as actual roads may be fine for all I know.

However, back to the spirit of the original question, are there any recommendations for temporary off road insurance cover? L405 P400e Autobiography (MY2020)... Silicon Silver / Espresso

I take mine shooting which can involve quite a lot of driving off road and it has never occured to me that I might not be insured. So as a result of this thread I checked my policy with NFU and can't see a problem. Neither can I see a problem with the policy for my Mini which is insured with LV. Not that I want to take it offroad!

My policy certificate (Ageas) has exclusions including "off road events, track days, rallies..." I wonder what the "event" bit means, like, if I just happen to drive down a green lane on my own then I should be insured, but if go to a meet up with other vehicles and do the same it becomes an "event"?

My prior policy with LV did not have this exclusion, just the usual track day one.

I am not surprised NFU allows off-roading, it would be a bit daft for them not to given their target market. NFU do not cover us townies, I have tried. L405 P400e Autobiography (MY2020)... Silicon Silver / Espresso

Whilst I’m in no way condoning such tactics, I’ve heard stories about people not admitting the damage to the bodywork was incurred whilst off-road.

I am with NFU, who are sensible about Land Rover use. Thumbs Up
