Another L322 Tyre Size Question

Hi all, i picked up my 11 TDV8 Autobiography last Weds and find the ride a little harsher than my 03 TD6, I suspect it is due to wheel / tyres size differences (TDV8 275/45/21 - TD6 255/55/19).
My question is if, i go back to 20" rims would there be much difference in ride with 255/55/20 vs 275/45/20 as the rims i'm thinking of getting are 9.5J x 20 so was thinking 275's would look nicer on the wider rim.
Also, what sort of money are my current 21's worth, rims are fairly new but 2 have some grazing / chipping, tyres are Pirelli verde 275/45/21 with around 8mm tread (see pic's).

The trade off not only comes from the wheel size but also the tyre size and sidewall.

I find the ride in my 405 on 21” harsher than the 322 on 20”, some of which has got to be down to the tyres. The sidewall difference between the standard 322 20” size of 255/50/20 and the 275/45/21 is negligable about 127mm vs 124mm but if you went with the 405 tyre size of 255/55 then you get 140mm of sidewall so the ride will be better. Also the cross section of the tyre coming down from 275 to 255 should improve the harshness as well.

Personally I never found the 322 particularly harsh on proper 322 wheels and 255/50/20 tyres, and only marginally better on 255/55/19 winters, so I never bothered with the 55 section tyres, just went with the standard size rather than the size that fits on the sport, 275/45/20 never looked quite right imho on the car.

If it was me I would find some nice 322 v spoke wheels and fit a set of 255/50/20 scorpion verdes.

You should be pretty Even money on the swap, as the value of your 21” with practically new tyres will be decent. Exactly how much is tricky to say…. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I’ve got 20’s with 255/55 Grabbers on my MY12 TDV8 and it’s a lovely ride.

I bought some genuine 20’s from a Full Fat owner he put General grabber GT’s on them 275/40/20 coming from the original 19’s the 20’s hold the road better a little bit more noise but it rides really well on them better than I thought a 40 profile would.
