Lower Tailgate Switch Rubber Cover

Hi All,
My Lower Tailgate Switch stopped releasing the lower tailgate.

I managed to open, test and prove the lower tailgate mechanism with the GAP IiD tool and then having removed the rubber switch cover, I found that the switch was getting stick down. A blast with a air compressor has fixed the switch, but now I can’t get the damn rubber cover back in !!

Any suggestions or tips on the method to do that ?

+1 it's easier to take the plastic trim off to make sure the little rubber tabs are located properly, then refit the trim.

I seem to remember getting mine on with the end of a cake slice. What a faff 🤣

As Stan says, take the trim off if you want to get to the underside for a good fit.

Just looking at the trim, are those plastic plugs covering screws ? I’m just wondering how to re,I’ve that lower tailgate trim section.

With a little bit of silicone lube give it a bit of wiggling and it will pop into place, although it does fight back a wee bit Thumbs Up
