Fuel for thought

Just wondering with the new changes to E10 (10% ethanol) are the petrol Rangies affected and therefore need either to use super unleaded or the E5 (5% ethanol) but be modified to cater for it?

Also do you think this only affects pre 2010 rangies?

I’m guessing it’s worthy of debate as it’ll affect both running costs and potentially make reliability worse.

Give it a few years and when you see range rovers doing seals or pumps you'll know then I guess. I've normally always stuck to super unleaded or v power diesel due to having subarus and a mapped diesels but the local garage is shell so easy enough

Although to be fair they never defined how long “life” was, perhaps it aligned to the length of the warranty??

Don’t forget your other petrol engined machines….lawnmowers, chainsaws and strimmers etc.

A side effect of E10 is the fact it deteriorates quickly if left in a tank or container has also been suggested it isn’t ideal for two strokes. Looks as though the mower will be using premium fuel! 2012 tdv8 Westminster arrived Jan 19 gone Dec 23

You’ll need to upgrade the brakes on your mower! You could also consider adding racing stripes and a spoiler??
On a serious note I’d assume a fuel stabiliser/additive will be required with e10 if it’s left for long periods?

Good thinking on the lawn mover and other gardening tools chaps, will bear this in mind.
If I have behaved myself, I am allowed to use my mother's large ride on mower, which believe it or not also has a cat in the exhaust system Shocked Now I know things are going crazy.

haha - I ran my mower on super unleaded for years!

It was fuel that was drained from the tank of my 200sx following the petrol contamination issue that hit Tesco back in 2007. The silicon killed the 200's lambda sensor and the engine wouldn't run at all on it.

The mower didn't mind, though Laughing

I've never used supermarket fuel ever since...
