Fixing sticky buttons

One thing that has bothered me since getting my rangie is the sticky steering wheel buttons. So today I set about tackling the problem once and for all
This was them before, smooth bits where the coating has already come off and sticky bits where it hasn't

So I nicked my missus's nail polish remover and set about them with a cotton bud. Took several goes to soften the sticky cack and scrape it away but eventually ended up with it all gone. Then a final rub over with some baby wipes and the buttons are no longer gooey 😎

Looks good. I cannot wait to see your final results. No discolouration?

Be very careful with nail polish remover, it is often acetone based and will melt many plastics. Isopropyl Alcohol may be better suited to this operation. Glad you apparently got away with it. BMW i3 Electric Car

No, the buttons look fine but without the sticky coating. It's quite a long drawn out job but makes a big difference to the interior of my car. These buttons along with the peeling chrome on the cup holders are the only thing that spoils the interior on my car Paul

Or you could buy a whole new set of buttons from Alibaba. com for about $150 this includes windows centre console as well.
Just another option.
