L322 2004 HDC & LOW RANGE SWITCHES

I had the HDC and LR PCB re-attached on the gear selector trim a few months ago as all the retaining screws' threads had fallen apart.
Then recently went to get a much needed 2nd key so the guys at the locksmiths had to remove the BCM in order to do the programming.
Never thought they'd pull the trim hard enough, without disconnecting the plugs, enough to break the PCB loose again, spilling the innards around the gear selector block Banging Head Can't fault them though, should have removed it myself...
Now I'm missing a pair of contact + spring plate i.e. can only have one functional switch, either HDC OR LOW.



Further searching into the central console would open another can of worms and arguably do more harm than good.
A new assembly costs from 350-500 euros which I'd rather spend otherwise on the car although it's not totally out of the question at the right time.
I could go for a used trim piece and PCB but most all available on eBay look in poor condition. Mine is near perfect cosmetically (it's another story underneath) enough to think it's worth salvaging.
So, does anyone happen to have a pair of these lying around? Would be glad to discuss on price and method of despatch.

Opening up the centre console is not as bad as you may think, I followed the below excellent thread to change my ignition switch, so the video just about covers what you may need to do. If you can't get the bits there are some good condition used parts around, just a case of a good web search. A complete panel with switches is easy to source. Quite a simple swap.

Thank you for the encouragement, sir! Now, I could certainly combine taking apart of the...bridge telegraph with replacing the cubby box gas struts, perhaps killing two birds with one stone or...more likely doubling my job list in an instant. Boy I hate messing with interior trim and panels Laughing Central piece swap is as far as I'm comfortable going unless threatened at gunpoint Whistle

Update

Got incredibly lucky this afternoon to spot this little b@stard in the chair's rail!!!



It's a miracle in itself it escaped the vacuum so many times and I'm super meticulous with cleaning...



Gotcha!

So this was my last chance to put everything back together properly and avoid paying the € 200 for a crappy looking centerpiece or God forbid € 560 for a brand new one. Would not screw this one up (not that I could anyway).



Sufficient motivation Laughing

No screw threads left so...

Built up some 2-part epoxy with a cord as a space filler and core. Now it's all one solid piece.



And I get to keep my lovely looking plastics.



A final quality control 👌 all systems go!

Sorted. I’m never keen on garages doing stuff on my car. They just don’t treat it as I would.

Pity they didn’t replace it if they broke it....

True! But I can't fault them as they didn't quite expect the retaining setup i had in place at the time. I should have removed the piece myself but quite frankly wanted to keep my social distancing. Chalk it up to COVID.
Anyhow, here we are now, everything back to normal...
