Pre Cooling from FBH remote

As I’m bored silly stuck in isolation again I thought I’d see if the pre cooling on the fbh remote did anything, took outside temp, took inside bearing in mind I’ve got a windscreen reflector to try to keep most of the suns heat out as the screen faces west so gets mist if the afternoon direct sun.

Anyway pressed the remote solid green fit two seconds the flashing green, went outside can’t here any fans going nothing lit up on the dash, left it another five mins still nothing? Unlocked the car opened the door the auto button lit up with one led and the fans started to blow cooler air, am I doing something wrong does it need the light sensor on the dash to be uncovered, I know it’s worked before just not in this heat 2012 Range Rover Westminster 4.4 TDV8

It doesn’t cool as such, just blows the outside air in, so the boiling scorching air you normally get with a hot car is pushed out. I’ve used mine a few times but not noticed precise detail about what lights etc come on the dash.

A similar outcome can be had if you wait a min or so after holding the open button, and all the windows and sunroof open.

I must admit, I have occasionally heard the fans on or come on as I opened the door. I’m not sure how long it runs, is it 20 mins?

Perhaps it does something different if you open the door within the time, as oppose to after?

I know I’ve heard flaps moving at some stage....

FBH won’t cycle for a few reasons. One is if battery charge is low.
FBH will be shut down to preserve battery for starting.
Opening door wakes up the ECUs, and FBH fans will resume where they left off .....

Well, that’s my theory

If you haven’t been doing much driving to charge the battery, charge levels may be low.
