Hi, I am a new member on the forum and looking to buy my first FFRR.

Been offered the opportunity to buy a 2012 TDV8 autobiography with the exterior design kit and most of the options im after i.e. HK HD, ACC, reclining rear, rear entertainment. The car in question has done just shy of 80k miles. Has a good service history between dealers and specialists.

Guy wanted 21K for it so I offers 18K and he’s told me he can get 19K trade of it.

Just looking for advice on where to go from here.

Have a look online mate at a few sites and that will give you an idea on prices. For some reason the market has gone mad for ffrr. Just look for the right spec unless you really don't care. I've come from a saab so highest spec that had was electric windows and air con haha

Can somebody explain why the prices are so high? I bought my 2011 AB 18 months ago and paid £12995. I'm baffled.

Due to the pandemic, folks have lots of disposable income and nothing/nowhere to spend it, therefore, they buy luxury cars, and dealers cash in by upping prices. .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember

So did I, must admit I still miss the power in my hot Aero. But absolutely loving my fattie.

My advice would be not to rush and make sure you find a good one with lots of history.

People should I sell my 2011 TDV8 now, rough it for 6 months then get a 405 once things have cooled down a bit?

What do we think will happen in depressing January for example?

My opinion, for what it’s worth,
More and more cities are developing clean air charges systems similar to London.
Prices of all Euro 5 diesels will drop like a stone .
Take whatever you can get now while they are crazy high because you are certain it has to go by October when daily charges come into force.
Then you will be in a good position to snap up either a petrol L322 or a Euro 6 L405 diesel.

Just consider this
When I was 20 ( 1970 ) my dad bought a six month old Rover 2000 TC. in my favourite colour blue, with cream leather seats .

It was a dream of a car to drive… very quiet, compared to the Land Rovers me and my brother were running and pretty quick when you put your foot down.

I recently saw a fully restored one for sale for £20k.
Tax and MOT exempt so very cheap to run and will hold its value better than any modern family car.
Food for thought ??

That was one good thing. I had a hot area 95 estate and had it mapped from noobtune. Looked pretty tatty but was a good sleeper n left plenty of cars looking lost. Shocked a few focus St's that's for sure

I agree with I had kept a lot of my old cars. Once had a 3.4 Manuel jag long wheel base.
Only two made. Would be worth something now. I think some of the range rovers will be worth a lot of money in years to come as we progress to boring modes of transport

my 2006 SC 93k miles was valued at £3995 at last years insurance renewal.
WBAC a coupla weeks ago offered £6500. since then they have progressively upped their bid to £7995.
I'm not selling, that'd be madness selling a sorted car
