£19k 65-plate L405 on Facebook Marketplace - Another Scam

For anyone looking at Facebook Marketplace, beware of a (almost certain) scam for a 2016 65-plate L405 with 57k being sold by Zee Sohail.

www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/29437251..._code=null

Zee Sohail refers you to someone called Timothy who has moved to Canada last week and just gone through a divorce. He then refers to you to a company called TBW Logic Logistics (2 Lintonville Parkway, Ashington NE63 9JZ - company does exist on Companies House, but is registered to 41 Hallas Lane, Bradford) where the car is located and their Customer Support guy called Jonathan Sawyer their who wants you to pay the £19k into their Escrow account before the car is delivered to you. I've just said I don't need Escrow and happy to come over and transfer the money to them when I arrive - lets see where that gets to.

I might be a cynic, but sadly this has scam written all over it.... Current:

This is obviously a scam. As this is fraud, it is a crime, so why don't the website and police do something about it ?

Police are not interested, BUT, find the scammer and whistle the tune for 'Bob the builder' at him and the police will be down on you like a ton of bricks for a hate crime. Censored Censored

Nice research Zebedee Thumbs Up

Funny that. I was up in Burnley a few months ago and while I was up there I was going to look at an L322 overfinch. Reasonably priced and good miles. The dude I spoke to on the phone said yeah come and have a look and a test drive but need you to pay first due to covid and he would return the money if I didn't want it. That straight away made me back off and told him no way am I paying money to someone I've never met and insisted he was legit and the car was at his house and not the showroom. He said he was the owner of reedley car sales in Burnley and tried and tried to get me to pay, eventually I hung up. I loaded up in Burnley and was heading back down when I just happened to pass a company called reedley car sales, so thought I know let's pop in and have a chat. Funnily enough, they didn't have an overfinch for sale nor did they recognise the number. Turns out the scammer was using their name to scam unsuspecting buyers.
What is wrong with people these days?

FB market place is quite the Wild West.
I just found a property that I own on there listed for rent. And it's not my listing!

Have enquired as to viewing just for a laugh, then I'll report it.
No doubt the pics and details were scraped from another site, easily done from afar.

I am sure they will ask for a non refundable of some sort.
. Cheers, Greg

Oh dear - according to Jonathan Sawyer of TBW Logic Logistics, the car has been sold so I can't go and see it...

Strange that its still on Facebook Marketplace though (particularly as I've reported Zee Sohail).....

Myself and the missus went to Bradford to virw a ff many years ago, on arrival at the property lots and I mean about 20 neighbours all arrived at the house at the same time, I remained outside of our car and the missus locked the cash in the glove box and locked herself in the car, after about 5 minutes I Censored off vowing to never ever set my foot in the place again.

It was like being in Bangladesh

Now reside in Portugal Cool

I am in the middle of the exact same conversation right now but for a different vehicle that I also found on Facebook. I am speaking to Timothy who has also told me about his divorce and has directed me to a logistics company with the same postcode (I haven't managed to get the name of the company just yet).

How did this end for you? The whole situation screamed scammed from the very beginning, especially as the car was being sold for 10k under market price, I am now more going along with the conversation just out of curiosity and to see how far he will try to push it before he realises its going nowhere.

I kept saying that I was happy to come and collect the car and do a bank transfer when I arrived.

They kept putting me off by saying there had been a Covid outbreak and couldn't see anyone for 10 days. I emailed again after 10 days [for a bit of sport] and was told the car had sold.

The website (www.logic-logistics.co.uk) was quite sophisticated and there was even fake reviews and news stories on Google about Logic-Logistics. The website no longer seems active.

Sadly, the advert is still on Facebook Marketplace, even though I've reported it as a scam. Current:

Looking at the background image on the Facebook profile, I believe the photo was taken in Bucharest, Romania on the Herestrau Lake. The two pillars in the skyline look like those that are part of a bridge in Bucharest built a few years ago.

I live in Bucharest as a British Expat and know the city well as I have been here since 2009. Could be wrong though. Most of the likes that the lady has on her Facebook posts appear to be from Indian / Pakistan sounding names. Could however all be smoke and mirrors. 2012 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Current

What is wrong with Facebook? This ad is still up despite me reporting it as a scam about 5 times over the past 3-months.

I wonder if someone did lose money they could sue Facebook for their loss due to Facebook failing to act on the information they'd received? Current:
