Potential L322 4.4 TDV8 purchase

We have started to look for the replacement for our XC90 that went back recently at the end of lease. We were going to lease another large SUV, but the combination of availability and the increase in lease costs means considering a different direction.

We went to see a L322 Westminster at the weekend, just so my wife could see if she likes it, she did. It will be her car, for pretty local drives, then our towing tug for our caravan trips.

Just looking around at the used sections though. It would be a 4.4 TDV8 we are looking for and as high as spec as we can get really. What I have noticed is the amount that come up for sale at 96-99K miles, pretty much from used car dealers / specialist 4x4.

It has mad me wonder why ? What happens when these reach 100K miles, why are they being "offloaded" just before the 100K miles ? Is there a big service/timing chains ? or other service costs. Maybe it is that they can only offer a "warranty" on vehicle under 100K, not sure. At least using the MOT checker helps track the mileage history.

Hopefully, we will find a relatively low miler, in high spec with few owners. Bit suspicious of the 6 or 7 owners on a 10 year old car.

This is a great Forum to research and allow me to check for known and common issues. But, also has frightened the bejeezus out of me,, lol.

'100k miles' is a psychological figure that some think is the max that a vehicle can achieve.

many on here have gone past that mileage and their FF's are running well.. ... - .- -.

Do your research (on here), look at lots (I mean it) and have a healthy contingency to fix any bits on purchase and annually.
I've just spent £1K on having a new air compressor and suspension air bag. Supply and fit. Not Genuine parts and certainly not at a main dealer (avoid at all costs!) 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

I wouldn’t say anything happens at 100k. These are coming up to 10 years old now and the majority will be at that mileage if not more. If equipment is your thing, I’d say get a Vogue SE or an Autobiography, as both tend to be higher spec than the Westminster.

If it’s a low mileage car you want, then you won’t find a better one than this one, and such a stunning colour. Thumbs Up

That looks a superb example. Just more than we were looking to spend, when keeping some back for maintenance contingency.. Not many around like that from what I have seen.

What a great car in superb condition! You wouldn't need to hold back quite so much contingency money if you bought that. MY23 Panamera E-Hybrid

Just out of interest, do they build cars in batches, .?
I have just noted the date first registered and mine was the same week. Perhaps they had a Baltic week in the paint shop.

It is also worth noting that this one has had the turbo drain mod completed.
