Speed Limit display and a bike rack

Hello
I have just taken my car on it first long journey (the type I wanted it for). It was great. The bikes on the bike rack are smaller than the back of the car, so it was good on the Autobahns. Good fuel consumption for the speed. And so comfortable.

Now I am used to and like the function that displays the max road speed and can read most road signs for speed changes. Now on this trip I discovered a limitation. As the bike rack plugs into the tailer light plug. It always give the max speed on the road as 100kmph. But as it was only a bike rack I can go faster. but it was always flashing me that I was going more that 100.

Is there anyway around this? Just for when I have the bike rack fitted. It will be useful when I have a trailer.

Thanks
