2008 range rover - radio system problem

Hi all, just just wondering if anyone could help me, I'm experiencing a problem with my media system on my car, here is what's happening.

On my audio screen which has the touch screen buttons for radio, cd, aux and TV it is stuck on radio, the radio is working but all the preset buttons don't work, to change channel you have to manually enter the station.

The cd, aux and tv functions don't seem to work at all, I've been into the onboard diagnostics to check the video input and they seem to be working when testing but once I go back to the main audio screen I can still not choose different options.
The sat nav seems to work fine, I have disconnected the Bluetooth and put a loop in this as this was not working, I've replaced the TV tuner but still nothing, can anyone help in anyway at all.

I would be grateful, thanks all

Could anyone help with this in anyway?

It's so frustrating, I am hoping that someone has experienced this in the past and found a solution.

Thanks all

I've had the same problem for 2 years.

I don't believe that anyone anywhere knows of a solution.

Rich,

Did you not manage to sort it then? It's so frustrating.

Nope;
Removed the BT module, changed the Logig7 amp, rebuilt the MOST cable loop.
Tried every combination of the components that is possible.
Removed and replaced all fuses front and rear and the 4 relays in the rear panel.

and still have the same problems that you describe.

On starting the car I have to do the press 5 seconds on the screen routine and then enter the code 134679 code and then the MOST Test and Reboot MOST Loop for the trip meter etc.

But still the thing remains stuck on Radio with no CD etc and only the volume controls on the steering wheel work

It really is a useless system (note politeness!)

It sounds very like you have moisture ingress at the rear left wheel arch which is affecting the electonic controls housed in the back left side of the boot. I had intermittent issues with radio and sat-nav for several years before opting to replace the head unit, which didn't sort the problem. The culprit turned-out to be the amplifier in the boot cavity. This was a symptom of a bigger issue which has now become visible corrosion at the rear of the wheel arch. The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom Smile

I’m having the same problem and wonder if someone managed to sort this?

Stuck on radio, AUX/Cd not working and only volume controls on the steering wheel works.

Try pressing CD or radio, then switching off with the main audio button and then switching on again. See if the CD/radio now works.

Probably won’t, however this is the method for using DAB when you switch the old non functioning DAB module for a DAB+ module.

Worth a try !

Thanks for thinking with Jonny. Gave that a go but no luck.

Very curious what the two ther forum members did to solve this. Sent them a pm but no reply yet.

Have you tried the battery reset option? Remove both battery leads leave a few minutes then touch them together, refit battery leads and see if that helps.

I had this exact issue on my vehicle. After much chasing around, it turns out that the touch screen display was the issue. My Range Rover is a 2008 Vogue 3.6 TDV8. The screen I took out was 8H2 10E8889 AB and the one I refitted was YIK500090. TV, AUX and CD now work perfectly. Connection of system seems to be a lot quicker aswell compared to previously.

That is very interesting info! I am still dealing with this issue. I actually have a replacement touchscreen from the breakers.

My touchscreen however seems to work fine and it responding with an orange accent when I click aux but just nothing happens after. Was this also the case for you?

I have uploaded video that displays my issue, was yours the same? I'd greatly appreciate if you can confirm that so I can start the big job of removing the dashboard once more.

Yes, I could see the buttons for aux TV and CD depressing on screen it would not switch to the relevant media device. The MOST test also showed the buttons working. I could also see the TV working in the diagnostic test.
I spent a lot of time with bypass loops trying to isolate the issue in the back, but nothing seemed to change. Worked to the front had the dash out which isn’t to bad a job to be honest. Changed the touchscreen and all working fine. Phone now connects, AUX now works, TV working aswell, Radio works fine and volume can be adjusted on the touchscreen knob instead of just the steering wheel.

These are the pages I used from the workshop manual:
Glovebox 2817
TSD removal 2309
Dash top removal 2808
Centre Air Vent Removal 2077

Couple of pointers:
Make sure the upper and lower gloveboxes are open before removing the battery.
When removing the dashtop, there are 10 screws and two bolts to remove. 4 large screw along the front near the windscreen, 2 under the speaker grill/cover, 2 under the centre air vents, 2 near the passenger and drivers door when you remove the side vents and housings. The 2 bolts are behind the upper glove box. 9mm A/F hex, next a big yellow connector (Which you need to disconnect along with the front speaker connector to remove the dash top.
To remove the TSD, there are two screws at the top and then 2 down some pockets on the LH and RH side of the TSD. You will see them when the dash top is off.
