Big brake upgrade

Is there such thing? I see JE do a kit for 4.5k but wondering if maybe something from the supercharged model etc is a upgrade?

I have a 2015 4.4 autobiography and a history of big brake swaps... just getting into L405 ownership so appreciate your thoughts, did a search and found plenty for previous versions but nothing for 405.

Yep, can’t fit Much bigger brakes than that in the wheels, it has same braking setup as the 5.0 sc. if you want it to stop a bit better then you can add fast road pads like greenstuff. But be careful with aftermarket discs, I’ve tried using them on previous and wasn’t happy.

For front stoppers on mine it’s currently TRW pads and Gen discs, but when these pads are done I’m going to give the Greenstuff ones a go. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

If your brakes don't feel tiptop and you have the 6pot Brembo's already then I suggest you have the system checked over for sticking calipers, both front and rear. If they are all free and working then move onto the quality of the componants? Pads etc etc sir... Thumbs Up

I agree with the above. It may be worth doing a full fluid flush/bleed also if you have performance issues.

I originally had genuine LR discs and pads but got fed up of the brake dust.

I've since moved to using a carbon-fibre and ceramic compound pad on my 6 pot Brembos. They are absolutely amazing in terms of stopping performance and best of all, zero dust Very Happy Kev

Surprised about the comment re brake dust as I’ve been amazed at how little there is compared to every other car I’ve owned. There’s nothing wrong with the std brake, so if you’re not happy then definitely take the advice given. MY23 Panamera E-Hybrid

Hi, I used to race Jaguars, and tried many pad/ disc combinations. What I found was that standard pads and discs were quite good until fade set in. Cheap discs were not much better or worse. Goodridge green stuff pads were useless as they faded too fast, and not suitable for vehicles over one and a half tons. Read the manufactures specifications. Red stuff were prone to falling apart at quite low mileages, and wore the discs unevenly. The best I found were Yellow Stuff pads. Good mileage on a set, just check which grade as they change from suppliers. Paget used to do a six pot caliper and pads for endurance racing. The pads had one inch of wear on each pad, two inches of pad to last a wekend of racing. I believe that Landrover did a few uprated pad/caliper sets if you factory ordered them, and had deep pockets. I found that due to heat, racing brake fluid was a must. Ceramic discs run red hot, so any rubber and fluid does not last long. Arriving at a hairpin at 140mph and finding that the brakes have faded out is quite interesting, so is blatting down an alpine pass and finding no brakes. You take your choices and remember the weight you are stopping. atb, Paul

Hi guys, thought i posted a reply turns out i didn't.

Yes looks like the car does have some big brakes, 6 pot(?) brembo's?

I've bought it unseen as im offshore with work but i do know it had a advisory on last MOT for a pad change all around... though it'd be a good time to upgrade if necessary.

I put AP racing 6 pot fronts 4 pot rears on my defender so more of a fashion icon on that car but the performance is outstanding... i know this is a lot heavier.
