2012 Range Rover Westminster 4.4 V8 Orkney Grey

Introducing the NTM 2012 Westminster

Having felt that I’d served my 4 year apprenticeship (and with LPG becoming harder to source), I decided that despite the crazy market, the time was right to upgrade to a 2012 model. So I’ve spent the last 6 months looking for what seemed to be a needle in a haystack, but 10 days ago collected a Westminster in Orkney Grey, with an ivory interior that had a FSH and only 2 previous owners.

I thought I’d be writing this with significant buyer’s remorse and a large dose of humility, having bought it unseen, however, I think that I may just have got away with it! The dealer was very honest about it, and with no rust on the tailgate or rear wheel arches, it looks and drives as described. Not sure about the wheels though.....

However, as always there is a long list of jobs to do:
Fit towbar and electrics
Changing gearbox, transfer box and differential oils
Getting a small area of damage on a doorcard repaired
Rust proof the upper tailgate and rear wheel arches.
Sorting out a strange problem with the rear passenger door outer seal that won’t lie flat, see below (will try 3M tape as a starter but may end up replacing it.)

Having already done 500 miles in it, I’m very impressed with the 4.4 TDV8 and more than happy with the range/MPG compared with the previous FFRR.

The ride does feel slightly harsher, but that may just be due to the age of the other one

I didn't appreciate how long it would take to find a late model non-black FFRR with light interior and in good condition. But loving the Westminster now! David

I hope to be just as happy tomorrow when I take delivery of my 2012 Westminster in Orkney with dark interior. Bought unseen from a main LR dealer to replace my 3.6 which I've had from new.

I may be placing a lot of trust in a main stealer, but I'm reckoning she must be good before they opt to retail it rather than move it in the trade. Only 42k miles on her, so just run-in I hope!

Still keeping hold of the old girl though, for the moment, but after thirteen years and 156k miles, she's beginning to show her age....
