I have a 2017 SE TDV8 and run a Thinkware front and rear camera. If I didn’t use the car for a few days I was getting the “low battery - start engine “ warning. In addition the camera shutdown after a few minutes . I had made enquiries to see about getting a dedicated battery for the camera in order to have total recording in parking mode.

At a recent dealer service they picked up the warning and told me they did a software upgrade to address it. The problem is now fixed and the camera records permanently when parked (motion activated) and no more warning pops up.

I told them if the upgrade made the stop start/ work again I would bring it back for a software reversal. I have now had stop/start operate intermittently a couple of times but not enough to concern me.

Might be worth talking to a dealer or good Independant to see if they can address this issue. I am very happy with the change. disco 1997 SE7 Tdi [gone]

Trev, do you know specifically what software was updated to fix please?

Taken from the service report as follows:

Low battery warning on – when ignition is turned off.
Inspected and confirmed customer concern.
Carried out DTC scan and found code PB141 2–96 logged
Carried out gateway relay functional checked via pathfinder
Carried out update to gateway module software.
Checked after update. All okay

A question about batteries.
My car, an MY15, does not have Intelligent Stop Start. The book has a section on it but I don’t seem to have the button and the car has never done it.
So why do I have two batteries? I know that the main battery does all the starting, but I thought the second battery was there to maintain a minimum voltage for other circuits while all this stop start malarkey was going on.

normally the second battery located in the right rear cubby is for the stop/start but it can also be for helping cold starting .. ... - .- -.

Can the main battery condition be tested through the jump terminals, to save hauling the spare wheel out.
