Plastic Trim. Back to black

Hi all from SE London.

I have an outstanding, ffrr L322, 5.0sc Overfinch.
The only part I've never been happy with is the not so black plastic external trim, especially on the rear pillars. Apart from them losing their shine like the rest of the external trim, it looks like some moron had previously tried to paint them with a wire brush.

I've seen plenty of articles on various platforms on remedies for this. Heat gun seems to win, but isn't an option for me.
Well I've used meguars black, as picture below.
So far I've used 2 coats, and the before and after are remarkable. I hope the pictures do it justice.

I've heard of that, it wasn't in my local car shop.
Mind you the Meguars was 20quid, so comparable in price.
And being a fat old cripple, diy isn't my forte. This was easy

£22.50 gets you enough to do maybe two cars so it's quite a bit more, very easy to use, just wipe it on (after you have cleaned the surface well) Pete

Gtechniq is excellent.

I've just done my plastic with Gtechniq C4 Permanent Trim Restorer.

It's a ceramic coating and the best I have come across

@haylands that's a really good shout, going to try that stuff.

Whilst we're talking ceramic coat type things, I can highly recommend aquacoat from autofinesse for the paintwork after washing. Especially if you can still find the blue stuff, the last batch I ordered is different (creamy white solution instead of blue) and I feel it's not quite as good.

It's an si02 based hydrophobic coating, obviously not as good as a proper ceramic coat but for the cost and effort required to apply (spray on, wash off) i think it's amazing.

I’ve just done our RRS with the Gtechniq product, which Dr Rob on here put me onto. My black trim was ok but the windscreen scuttle panel had gone grey. I put this stuff on and with one coat it’s gone black and 3 weeks later it’s still black. Tremendous stuff Thumbs Up . visiting from www.rrsport.co.uk

I used a ceramic coating from Amazon last year on the entire car and they are still black 12 months later
